Red Knights Hold Off Takeover Proposal

Anyone who has been watching the matches from Old Trafford recently can`t have helped but notice the change in colour from the usual red and white to green and yellow of the spectators. That`s their way of protesting about the Glazer rule, which has seen United goes into massive debt.

The Red Knights consortium has announced though that any bid for the Red Devils won`t come before the end of this season.

The group of wealthy United fans confirmed this month it was considering the feasibility of putting a proposal to current owners the Glazer family.
The consortium of rich United supporters are progressing with their plans to put an offer on the table to the Glazers, who are the current owners of Manchester United.

Part of their reason for holding off until the season closes is that they don`t want to place any distractions in the way as United seek to win the Premiership title, and are still in the chase for the European Champions League title.

Good Win For United Over Liverpool Rivals

It didn`t take long before the goals started coming.  Dirk Kuyt delivered a cross to an unmarked Fernando Torres which was headed home after just 4 minutes.

Seven minutes later Mascherano persisted in fouling Antonio Valencia until both men had crossed the 18-yard line.  Referee Howard Webb, having initially played the advantage, awarded a penalty. Wayne Rooney's spot-kick was initially saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Reina, but couldn`t keep Rooney`s second shot out.

In his 100th start for United Park scored the winner from a Fletcher pass in the second half on 59 minutes.

Rooney On Thirty Two Goals For Season

Real Madrid might have some of the best football players in the world playing for them, but, they are out out of the Champions League (for yet another year), and they don`t have arguably the best striker in the world - Wayne Rooney.

With two more goals during United`s win over Fulham on Sunday Rooney now stands at 32 for this season. Berbatov scored the third goal in the 3-0 win.

Somehow I can see Real Madrid going after Rooney as another of their `prize possessions` though hopefully he`ll stay at United for many years to come.

Manchester United Put Four Past AC Milan

4-0 on the night, and 7-2 on aggregate puts Manchester United into the next round of the Champions League.

Although David Beckham only made a 27-minute appearance as a substitute he got a warm reception from the Old Trafford faithful. His full-blooded volley flew straight at United goalkeeper van der Sar, but was one of AC Milan`s better efforts of the night.

It was Rooney who got the first, putting United in front from Gary Neville's cross after just 13 minutes and extended United's 3-2 advantage from the first leg even further seconds in to the second half after a cross from Nani.

Ji-Sung Park scored the third on the hour and Fletcher sealed to win with the fourth.

Wolves 0-1 Manchester United 1

Paul Scholes's 100th Premier League goal gave Manchester United a win over Wolves on 72 mins.

Wayne Rooney was sorely missed, and he is also likely to miss the second leg of the Champions League game Milan. according to Sir Alex

Fergie isn`t too pleased though with Rooney. Apparently Rooney defied his manager by not pulling out of England's midweek win over Egypt. Sir Alex has accused him of being irresponsible and jeopardising United's chances of silverware. Rooney was already suffering from a sore knee, and the lousy Wembley turf didn`t help matters.

Carling Cup Win For Manchester United

Would the result in the Carling Cup have ended differently if Vidic had been sent off for bringing down Villa`s Gabriel Agbonlahor in the penalty area in the 5th minute? Probably, but we`ll never know. Vidic escaped even a yellow card despite denying Agbonlahor a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Martin O’Neill  wasn`t happy about the none sending off, accusing the referee, Phil Dowd, of costing his team the Carling Cup.

The fact remains the just before half time Michael owen equalised for Manchester United. And after Owen was substituted because of an injury off the bench came Wayne Rooney.

Rooney made it 2-1 for United late in the second half with a well struck header from a wonderful Valencia pass.

United were the better side. Villa weren`t unfortunate, they just weren`t as good as the opposition.
