The Wayne Rooney show got underway in injury time in the first half. Rooney scored United`s first goal with seconds on the clock. Up until that stage both sides had been playing quite attractive, attacking football.

In the second half the Red Devils took their foot off the gas, and played more defensively, and the spectacle suffered for it.

For some inexplicable reason Rooney then gifted Hull a way back with a pass which was intercepted by Hull, and that led to Craig Fagan's penalty equaliser.

Rooney`s blushes were short-lived though as he forced an own goal from Andy Dawson. And to cap it off he set up a third goal which Dimitar Berbatov easily slotted home.
