Spurs No Match For Manchester United

Jermain Defoe scored for Spurs after 52 seconds with a great overhead kick. Ryan Giggs` excellent free kick cancelled out the goal though.

Since joining United Anderson has occasionally demonstrated typically Brazilian skills in every department except finishing but when King cleared Scholes’s drive, he drilled a left-foot shot beyond Cudicini to give United the advantage.

It didn`t look good for United when when Paul Scholes was dismissed on 58 minutes for a second booking in quick succession after a late tackle on Tom Huddlestone. It was the ninth red card of his career, and it looked like their 1 goal advantage could be taken away.

United withdrew Dimitar Berbatov and restocked their midfield with Michael Carrick. They were not only able to protect their lead but augment it. Wayne Rooney cut past Alan Hutton and nutmegged Carlo Cudicini to put the score beyond Spurs` reach at Spurs 1-3 Manchester United.
